NOTE: Each week, we are featuring a school's performance from the 14th Annual Poetry Slam!. During the two-night culminating event of the fall season, each of the 27 schools DC SCORES serves had the opportunity to perform original poems and songs in front of their peers, families and community members.
On the second night of the Slam!, under the bright lights of the brand-new H.D. Woodson High School stage, the Garfield Elementary poet-athletes made their Poetry Slam! debut in bold, unique fashion. No other team brought out a troupe of drummers to the stage, and it was clear from start to finish that the Garfield students overcame any stage fright they had entering the evening.
