NOTE: Each week beginning today, we are featuring a school's performance from the 14th Annual Poetry Slam!. During the two-night culminating event of the fall season, each of the 27 schools DC SCORES serves had the opportunity to perform original poems and songs in front of their peers, families and community members.
We'll start with Arts and Technology Academy, which put on a poignant tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. just months after the MLK memorial was opened to the public in the District. It wasn't the only ode to the transcendent leader during the two-night event, but the performance earned ATA its fourth consecutive Golden Mic trophy for winning the elementary school division of the second night of the Slam!.
