Next week is spring break for DCPS students. So, no, there will not be any DC SCORES soccer games.
At least at the elementary and middle school levels.
Rather, on Friday, April 22 from 12-4 p.m., DC SCORES will host the first ever DC SCORES Alumni Soccer Tournament.
If you’re an alum of our program, you don’t want to miss out on this event at Tubman Elementary School (13th Street, NW near the Columbia Heights metro).
Alumni are encouraged to find at least six former elementary or middle school teammates to form a team and compete for school pride. For instance, expect there to be a Lincoln Middle School team, a Brightwood Education Campus squad, and many more.
No worries, though. If you can’t find enough former teammates, you can join another team.
Everyone will get to play for fun, reunite with other DC SCORES participants and also – if you haven’t already – learn more about staying involved with the program and giving back to the 800 poet-athletes we currently serve.
DC SCORES will provide hot dogs and Gatorade, and you can bring sides or dessert if you wish. There’s no obligation.
All you NEED TO DO is reserve a spot for your team. To do so – or if you have any questions – contact Ms. Katrina at khochstetler@americascores.org or 202.295.7760. You can also download the flyer and permission slip -- which needs to be returned to Ms. Katrina -- here.
We look forward to seeing all the classic DC SCORES teams back on the pitch. It will be an action-packed Friday afternoon at Tubman – that’s for sure.
