DC SCORES student's poem featured in The Washington Post

Jasia S. of Burrville Elementary School was an exemplary DC SCORES poet-athlete during the fall season, and she put an exclamation point on her experience by winning the Shine Award at the Eastside Poetry Slam! 

While there were many great poems addressing violence in the community and other important issues in the District, Jasia wrote and performed a brilliant poem about her love for the environment that won the award for the best individual poem by an elementary school student.

And now, Jasia's poetry is in The Washington Post. Recently, she was interviewed by the paper — and her poem was featured Christmas day on the The Answer Sheet blog.
