Interested in coaching? DC SCORES has open positions

Have you ever volunteered at a DC SCORES event – maybe it was a game day; perhaps it was one of our outdoor celebrations, Fall Frenzy or Jamboree!; or our Poetry Slam! – and thought, Wow, this is pretty cool. How lucky are those teachers to be involved with this?

Well, now is your opportunity to become one of them.

DC SCORES has a limited number of volunteer and paid positions open for the spring season beginning March 14 and running through the Jamboree! on June 4.

If you are free between 3:30-5:00 pm a few times a week and interested in working with elementary or middle school students, this could be the job for you.

We’re especially in need of coaches to teach our service-learning curriculum, which involves each school’s group of students planning and completing a project to help their respective community. We are also in need of a few soccer coaches. Service-learning coaches are needed twice a week while soccer coaches hold practices two times a week as well as a game day.

If you’re interested but lack teaching experience, don’t fret – you just need to be interested in forming positive relationships with kids. DC SCORES provides interactive trainings for all our coaches in addition to a well-developed curriculum to guide you throughout the season. Our program staff is also extremely supportive.

If interested, please let us know as soon as possible, as the season’s just around the corner. E-mail Middle School Program Director Katrina Hochstetler or Elementary School Program Director Cory Chimka if you are interested or would like to learn more.
