DC SCORES hosts first Soccer & Service Cup Feb. 19 for high school teams: Sign up today!

With the spring season not too far off, DC SCORES teams are preparing to focus on the combination of soccer and service-learning. Students will need each other to compete on the soccer field and complete impactful service-learning projects in their respective communities.

Here at our fundraising headquarters, we’re in a similar state of mind.

Thus, the creation of our first Soccer & Service Cup -- a Futsal tournament that also involves giving back.

The 5v5 tournament is for high school boys and girls in the greater DC area. It will be held Saturday, Feb. 19 at St. Albans School – with the girls tournament beginning at 11am followed by the boys in the afternoon.

Registration for a team is $600, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting DC SCORES’ 800 poet-athletes this spring. Teams are encouraged to put together fundraising projects to help raise the money and ask for pledges.

As part of participating, each player is expected to commit to at least two hours of volunteering for DC SCORES. The opportunities are plentiful, especially for soccer fans – ref a couple elementary school games this spring; help at our Jamboree! year-end celebration June 4; assist a short-handed coach with practice one afternoon.

Two hours is nothing. And you’ll enjoy the experience – guaranteed.

So become a part of this spring of soccer and service, and sign up your school now!
