Help DC SCORES' poet-athletes in 2011 by donating in 2010

As 2010 wraps up, everyone is preparing resolutions and new goals for the upcoming new year.

As successful as the fall season was for DC SCORES, we have even more ambitious goals for 2011. We want to serve more than the record 800 students at 25 schools who wrote poetry and played soccer this past fall. We want to provide opportunities during the winter months for our poet-athletes to play indoor soccer and engage in other activities that keep them busy after school.

To do all this, we need your help in the final days of 2010.

Thank you to everyone who has donated nearly $50,000 to our annual giving campaign. We are close to our goal of raising $60,000. If you haven’t, please make a donation of any amount before the new year.

Any contribution will go a long way toward allowing us to serve as many District students as we can this spring. And it will benefit communities throughout the city, as each school’s DC SCORES team conducts a service-learning project to better their respective neighborhood.

Projects in the past have included planting and maintaining a school garden; collecting useful items for the homeless; and creating a school recycling program. Our students have the ability to make a huge difference at their schools.

Help give them the opportunity by making a donation. Thank you and an early Happy New Year!
