During the winter, we will highlight just a handful of the original poems that students wrote during the fall season and performed at the 17th Annual DC SCORES Poetry Slam! in early December. To watch any performance from the Slam!, visit our

Moth
I’ve always been jealous of a moth.
Yes.
A moth.
Because people just leave them alone.
They just let them fly on their own.
Who pays attention to that ugly thing?
But it’s the freest of creatures.
It flutters its wings
so independently
And nobody seems to care.
